Job Description:

As part of the Custodial Team, the Custodian will perform general, routine custodial duties, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies. You will perform routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies, empty trash receptacles, dispose trash into dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal. You will report needs and concerns to appropriate staff. You will promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices, ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies. You will assist with on-the-job training of new staff in routine procedures.

Essential Job Functions

Clean wood, linoleum, tile, and other floors, using equipment, commercial vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners.

Wash indoor windows.

Clean the interior of buildings including floors, carpet, rugs, windows, walls, and air vents.

Disinfect commonly used items like desks, door handles, office tools and phones, and dust all surfaces.

Process cleaning inventory, placing orders for new products when needed.

Maintain outdoor grounds, empty outdoor garbage cans, clean outdoor lunch tables, keeping area looking clean and organized.

Collect and empty trash into compactor and monitor/communicate when a new dumpster needs to be ordered.

Collect and empty recycling items into proper dumpster, and corrugated compactor processing.

Operate an electric or sit-down forklift for 20% of the day, or willing to become certified to operate a fork-lift for the position.

Assist with cleaning that is needed for the manufacturing floor, offices, and apartments.

Maintain apartments with minor maintenance, replace light bulbs, adjust furniture, or other similar activities as needed.

Clean and detail fleet vehicles.

Basic Qualifications and Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

6+ months of custodial experience.

Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, consistently lift around 30 pounds, and stand for at least 8 hours without accommodations.
