Governor Tony Evers has appointed Matthew McElroy to serve as Price County's district attorney.  He is replacing Karl Kelz, who resigned earlier this year.  (Read the related article at this link.)  Matt will serve for the remainder of Karl's term, which expires in January of 2025.

“Matt McElroy has demonstrated a commitment to public service and a passion for pursuing justice,” Governor Evers said. “I am confident that he will serve the people of Price County well as their next district attorney.”

Matthew McElroy graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the Marquette University Law School.  He began his legal career in the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office as a special prosecutor in 2019 while subsequently working in the district attorney's offices in Green Lake and Wood Counties.  He is currently an assistant district attorney in the Wood County District Attorney’s Office.  During the last four years, he has prosecuted various cases, some of which include traffic, guardianship matters, domestic violence, sexual assault, and drug-related felonies.
