SCHOOL DISTRICT OF PHILLIPS ANNOUNCES STUDENTS OF THE MONTH AND QUARTER

The School District of Phillips announced the Students of the Quarter for third quarter at the high school and Students of the Month for March 2024 at the middle school.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS OF THE QUARTER FOR THIRD QUARTER

KENDRA TIMMERS

Kendra Timmers, Grade 11, is the daughter of Grant and Alexis Timmers.

Kendra’s home economics teacher, Mrs. DeGroot, said, “I nominated Kendra for Student of the Quarter because she is kind to others and quietly gets things done while helping others.  I think sometimes that may go unnoticed.  She’s also a strong team member with the sports she’s involved in and a great help to her younger siblings.”

Her most admirable characteristics, according to Kendra, are “helping others and being responsible.”

Kendra is in basketball and volleyball.  Her favorite high school memory is “playing sports with all my amazing teammates throughout the years.”

She said the advice she would give to other students to be successful in school is to “work hard and be kind.”

JAMES VOLLENDORF

James Vollendorf, Grade 11, is the son of Brad and Anna Vollendorf.

James’ math teacher, Mrs. Schilling, said, “James is kind, respectful, and engaged in class.  He asks intelligent questions and helps others when he can.”

James is in cross country and track.  He said his favorite high school memory is "making it to state sophomore year in cross country after not making it freshman year.”

His most admirable characteristics are that he is "respectful and hard-working.”

His advice to other students is to "work hard and be nice.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS OF THE MONTH FOR MARCH 2024

ELLA VOLLENDORF

Ella Vollendorf, daughter of Brad and Anna Vollendorf, is in sixth grade.  Ella has participated in cross country, basketball, and track this year.  She thinks she was chosen as the Student of the Month because she is kind to all and is also helpful and respectful.  Ella’s favorite part of middle school is hanging out with her friends.

MADDY MACHOLL

Maddy Macholl, daughter of Jerrad Macholl and Rebecca Spets, is in seventh grade.  Maddy has many interests, including drawing, softball, anything social studies, four-wheeling, and spending time in the woods and with animals.  Maddy’s favorite part of middle school is being able to hang out with her friends and getting to learn new things every day.

ADA MEIVES

Ada Meives, daughter of Mitch and Sarah Meives, is in eighth grade.  Ada enjoys playing volleyball and softball, reading, and goofing off with friends.  Ada thinks she was chosen as Student of the Month because she is the class clown but also gets her work done.  Ada’s favorite part of middle school is hanging out with her friends and going to Mr. Hoogland’s class.
