Job Description:
The Panel Shop Associate is an entry-level shop and/or field position that performs installation and wiring of electrical components on company-produced equipment. This role typically requires little to no prior product knowledge or experience. Work is closely supervised and follows established procedures and standard work instructions. The Panel Shop Associate supports manufacturing operations by assembling and wiring electrical panels while maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Read and interpret basic wiring diagrams, specifications, and work orders to determine material requirements and assembly instructions.
Assemble basic electrical or electronic systems and support structures.
Install electrical components, units, subassemblies, wiring, and enclosures using hand tools, power tools, rivets, bolts, and soldering equipment.
Label, wire, and connect switch boxes and control panel terminal boards using basic wiring diagrams.
Inspect wiring for proper coding and termination; check for shorts, grounds, and continuity.
Assist in identifying defective materials, unusual conditions, or operating issues and report findings to the supervisor.
Participate in team meetings and provide input related to quality, cost, or production issues as appropriate.
Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures and company policies.
Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly work area and properly care for tools and equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.
Required Competencies:
Basic working knowledge of industrial electrical concepts and principles.
Understanding of electrical components and their use in industrial control panel and cabinet design.
Ability to safely and effectively operate hand tools and power tools.
Ability to read and interpret basic electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Strong team orientation with the ability to work collaboratively.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Willingness and flexibility to move between tasks or areas as needed.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
